Project type:
Exhibition catalogue "Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Imaginary Travels"
Date
2018
Location
Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany
role
Author
The expressionist artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner not only occupied himself extensively with painting and printmaking media, but also with the decorative nature of his studios. These became his places of retreat, imaginary fantasy worlds that were decorated with textile art objects. During his time in Davos, Kirchner's engagement with textile arts and crafts reached a new high point in his work. In collaboration with the Swiss weaver Lise Gujer, Kirchner made large-format wall hangings and carpets.
But who is the artist, who is the author? The essay looks for possible attributions.
