Between love, longing and intrigue, grief, pain and loss, the play unfolds on the emotional stage of a lonely island, populated by two people and countless island animals.
The extraordinary lithograph cycle Alpha and Omega by the important Norwegian painter Edvard Munch (1863-1944) not only encompasses the unhappy (love) story of two people. Rather, the mystical fable, in its grotesque complexity, refers to Munch's intense private life, characterized by his ambivalent relationship with women, and at the same time functions as a symbolic prelude to the artist's second creative and life phase after his breakdown in 1908 and the subsequent stay in a Copenhagen mental hospital.
